Joy!

"He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth,"

Luke 1:14

Joy to the world! Sing Hallelujah! Christ the Lord has come to earth!

Even those who don't believe in Jesus can't help but celebrate Christmas. It's a season of singing and family and feasting and gathering and giving and jubilance and JOY.

We love the season so much, that we extend it right on to New Year's Day. Even back in Bible times, the celebration continued.

"The whole assembly then agreed to celebrate the festival seven more days; so for another seven days they celebrated joyfully." 2 Chronicles 30:23

Maybe that's why Christmas and New Year's are exactly one week apart! We enjoy this time of celebration so much that we just don't want to stop! And after all the preparations for Christmas, we need to rest and revel in delight for a few more days.

Ah, let's just make it another week!

"The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy." Psalm 126:3

Jesus is the ultimate gift to us. Celebrating His birth blesses us with rest and peace. Our gifts to one another symbolize God's greatest gift to us. Praise be to Him for this season of giving and JOY!

"Shout for joy to God, all the earth!" Psalm 66:1

What blessings God has for us! As His Spirit lives in us, we become more patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. And we are blessed with love, peace and JOY.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such there is no law."

Galatians 5:22-23

The Christmas Spirit brings out the best in us. May we continue this spirit of love, peace and JOY beyond New Year's Day, into the new decade, and for years to come!

God's Blessings and a Happy 2020, my friends!
