Here’s the latest gossip…

~Letter from Myrtle~

Hello, I’m Myrtle Winthrop. I own the dress shop in Crystal Falls. My customers never let me down when it comes to passing along juicy tidbits of news. I’m also a regular at Rapunzel’s Beauty Salon, where my friends and I make weekly visits to get our hair done and catch up with one another.

The latest rumor is that an author, Dianne Miley, contracted with The Wild Rose Press to publish stories about some of the girls in our small town. The first book is Lilacs for Laura, and tells the story of Laura James and Brett Mitchell. The James family founded this town and Laura’s always been a good girl. Except when she had those incidents with her brother-in-law Jake. Much as I love gossip, Dianne threatens to break my pen if I tell you any more than that. So you’ll have to read the book! As for Brett, that boy is handsome, but his father’s a brute. Wayne Mitchell operates the garage here in town and he’s one of the crankiest men I’ve ever met. But I digress….

The second book is Roses for Rachel. This story shares how Laura’s sister Rachel deals with life as a widow and single parent after her low-life husband is killed. Poor girl is a sucker for pretty boys. She winds up being stalked by… well, again, I’m not allowed to say. Luckily, Elliot Truman saves her and she finally realizes you can’t judge a book by its cover. That boy’s mother and I are close friends, and I’ll tell you, she was thrilled when he got rid of those nerdy clothes and glasses. Oh, I hope I haven’t told too much.

To get a taste of these juicy stories, read excerpts on the Books page.

And even better, I heard through the grapevine that Dianne is currently working on the story of Vanessa Gallagher. Now this girl has a story to tell! That father of hers – well, let’s just say he and I used to be an ‘item.’ Until Vanessa’s mother came along. Humpf. Don’t even get me started on that woman. Anyway, Chad James, Laura and Rachel’s brother, has his sights set on young Vanessa. Don’t ask me why! One of these days those Gallaghers are going to be served their just desserts. You mark my words.

Anyway, that story will be called Violets for Vanessa and it may prove to be the most interesting one yet. I can’t wait for Dianne to finish it. Maybe this time I’ll get a starring role!

Meanwhile, we’re waiting for publication dates on the first two books. If you sign up for Dianne’s newsletter, she’ll send you an email when she gets word. Come on back to the dress shop though, because this is the place to get all the delightful details.

And just for the record, don’t believe everything you read about me. Some might call it gossip, but those of us in the know are just better informed on current events. Visit me in the dress shop anytime when you really must know what’s happening.

As always,

myrtle
